This summer has been off to a great start so far, I've kicked off my gummies and traded my red ban tan line in for Lowa woman's Mauria trekking boots. It took a few walks to get into the extra time needed to lace up but once in the boots the difference I noticed when running to the pig was huge. I didn't have to take it so easy and guard my ankles every uneven bit of surface I came to, my foot wasn't slipping around inside the boots and I even beat the boys to the pig for once! Some key reasons for this is the awesome Vibram Apptrail sole, its lug design is self-cleaning, which means you have better grip for longer periods. The “Lowa Flex” (which is a floating lace system) makes these boats extremely comfortable and the 5mm to 3mm nylon midsole creates a solid platform to stand on and provide great support for your foot, as well as piece of mind that when running for that pig, your steps are going to hold even in steep uneven ground.

I also found wearing them with the super comfy Thorlo socks helped with wearing them in, as usual with new shoes or boots I get horrendous blisters, but even after a 2 hour walk the first time I  was out in them, I had no pressure sores or blisters which were awesome. This is due to the padding the socks provide in the forefoot and heal. We've  been out in the bush testing them out for 6 months now and there's no way I'm going back to that red ban tan line.
